RC=Chris/Jeff
After 3 attempts to RC, Chris and Jeff finally made it on a nice warm evening. Six boats were on the line to complete five races. Wind direction was fairly steady out of the southwest but varied between 6-16knots in speed with a strong building flood throughout the night. Courses used were 1, 4, 6, 1 and 3 to close the night (couldn't find the "R" card so course 1 had to be repeated). With the flood, races at the finish line were fairly spread out. On several races, where the wind softened, getting to the weather mark was a real chore with lots of tacking. There was wave action particularly in the express lane getting to the reach mark on course 6, where boats were planing and fast.
The wind was lightest for the last race of the night. Klein caught the puff at the start and never looked back. For several minutes, others were making little progress against the current. Fortunately the wind came back and all starters finished.
Special thanks to Nick for taking out Autumn "I will never step foot in a small sailboat" Cody. She had a blast. First, I was first happy she was joining us on BR. When she donned the helmet and jersey, I was amazed. Thank you Nick! |
